Project Description

The alternatives analysis and physical modeling of Les Cases d’Alcanar Port is performed to study the reasons of the high levels of wave agitation during easterly storms. The objectives of this study are: • To analyze the effects of easterly storms on the infrastructure
• To propose feasable and technically reliable alternatives to solve the port’s inner wave agitation problems
• To validate alternativesby means of physical modelling and numerical simulations
The wave agitation tests were carried out in the basin with a unidirectional generation system located at CITEEC facilities and the proposed alternatives were studied under different climatic conditions. The test results indicate that the best alternative to solve the existing problems inside the port is to extend the main breakwater and build a smaller one perpendicular to this.
